3 Ways to Power Outdoor Lights With Little to No Electricity

Do you have a porch, deck, or outdoor area that could use some lighting?

Maybe you’re worried about the cost of running electrical wiring to power outdoor lights.

Or maybe you just want to be prepared for a power outage.

Whatever your reason, we’ve got you covered!

In this blog post, we will discuss 5 ways to power outdoor lights without electricity. So read on and find out how you can light up your outdoor space without spending a penny!

3 Ways to Power Outdoor Lights With Little to No Electricity

You don’t need to be a stuck to the grid to enjoy outdoor lighting. Here are five ways to power your outdoor lights without using any electricity.

One of the simplest ways to get started is with solar-powered lights.

These lights rely on solar panels that charge during the day and then provide power to the light at night.

Solar-powered lights are great because they’re easy to set up and you don’t have to worry about running any wiring.

You can find solar-powered lights for just about any type of outdoor light, from string lights to security floodlights.

Another option is battery-powered lights. These work just like solar-powered lights, but instead of relying on solar panels, they use batteries that you have to recharge periodically.

Battery-powered lights tend to be a bit more expensive than solar-powered lights, but they’re also more versatile because you can use them even if there’s no sunlight available.

If you want something that’s a bit more permanent while not consuming a lot of energy, you could consider installing a low-voltage lighting system.

Low Voltage vs 120V

A watt is a watt no matter how you look at it.

Electric companies charge you for watts not volts.

What that means is that a 50-watt lamp whether it is 120V or 12V, you still will consume the same amount of wattage.

Low consumption will be to change lamps out to LED where less watts produce the same amount of light as incandescent.

Low voltage lighting however is more cost effective to install since you don’t need to be a licensed electrician to install them.

These systems work by using low-voltage cables that are buried underground. The cables connect to an outdoor transformer, which then powers your lights.

Low-voltage systems are great because they’re very reliable and they’re not affected by power outages. However, they can be a bit more expensive to install than other options.

Outdoor lighting doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.

With a little creativity, you can find ways to power your outdoor lights without using any electricity at all.

So next time you’re planning a party or just want to enjoy a nice evening outside, consider one of these alternative lighting options. Your guests will be sure to appreciate the extra effort. And who knows, maybe you’ll even save a little money in the process.
